Getting out the mud...stuck vs stillness
Hey y’all,
This week, I’ve been sitting with this gentle reminder that won’t let go of me:
There’s a difference between being stuck and being still.
Sometimes we blur the two. Especially when we’re caught in the in-between, a decision we’re avoiding, a transition we didn’t ask for, or a brave thing we swore we’d do (but haven’t moved on yet). That limbo space? It can feel like a fog.
And here’s what I’ve noticed:
When we’re stuck, we’re frozen by fear. We’re waiting until everything makes sense. Waiting to want it. Waiting for the “right” moment that never seems to come.
When we’re still, though… that’s something different.
Stillness is intentional. It’s sacred. It’s a deep breath, a pause, a prayer whispered when you don’t have the words. It’s choosing to create space so God can do what only God can do…drop clarity, peace, direction, and even the energy to take that next brave step.
The difference?
Nothing is wasted when you’re still.
But stuckness? That’ll drain you.
This is the exact conversation I’m having in this week’s podcast episode of The Brown Heart Podcast. We’re unpacking what it means to slow down without shutting down and how stillness can be the bravest move you make.
If that’s where you are right now, I got you. We’re not rushing. But we are moving with intention, with softness, and with community.
The One Brave Thing challenge is kicking off again on July 7, and this time, we’re slowing it down and making it even more intentional. If you’ve been wanting to shift out of stuckness and back into aligned, brave action—this is your moment.
I’ll be sharing more next week (including how to join), but just know it’s coming. Get ready to do one small brave thing at a time. You don’t have to figure it all out. You just have to begin.
So here’s this week’s journal prompt:
Where in your life do you need to be still... and where might you be stuck?
With love and bravery,
Samantha 🤎
